The first movie was released in 2014 and is based on the first book in the Maze Runner series. Thomas is deposited in a community of boys after his memory is erased, soon learning they’re all trapped in a maze that will require him to join forces with fellow “runners” for a shot at escape.

A boy finds himself in between a group of youth (Gladers) in a Glade in the middle of a maze. The boys must find their way out by solving puzzles that get harder as they progress. They are also being chased by zombies (Grievers) in the maze. The boy, Thomas, becomes the group leader and has to save them before it’s too late.

The boy recalls his name as Thomas and volunteers to be the runner to find a way out of the maze. The first movie is mostly set in the Glade and the maze. It’s about how Thomas and the others solve the puzzles and find their way out.

Thomas Kills a Griever and, with Alby and Minho, returns to the Glade with the maps and a new plan. Teresa, the last and only girl, arrives at the Glade.

The next day, Gally appears, and Thomas tells him about the plan. But Gally doesn’t trust him and tries to kill him but fails. Alby saves Thomas by killing Gally. The boys escape the maze, but Minho gets stung, and Teresa is taken away by WCKD.

They are captured by Cranks but are saved by WCKD. Teresa is also there, and she tells Thomas that the Flare is incurable and that WCKD wants to use the Gladers as experiment subjects.

The group is then captured by rebel soldiers who are against WCKD. They are taken to the rebel group’s hideout of the Right Arm. The leader, Vince, tells them they want to help them destroy WCKD.

The plan is for Thomas and his friends to go into the city and plant bombs at WCKD’s facilities. They successfully plant the bombs, but WCKD captures Thomas. Teresa tells him that he is going to be used as a subject for their experiments.
